Anton Valk

Anton is Chief Executive NedRailways,  He has more than 20 years experience in management with particular focus on marketing, sales and business development. 
During his career he initially worked for the Royal Dutch Oil Company, Philips Electronics, KPN Dutch Telecom and AT&T Unisource.
 In early 1999, Anton became a board member of Nedtrain, the rolling stock and Maintenance Company of NS. Since January 2001 he has been responsible for NS’ international expansion.
 Anton completed an Engineering degree at Delft University of Technology and an Executive MBA at Nijenrode University.

 

 

Nick Brown

Nick is the Managing Director of Serco's Rail Division, part of Serco Group plc. With a career spanning over 25 years in the transport industry,
Nick joined British Rail in operational management with an MA in Economic Geography from Cambridge University.
His career has encompassed a range of front-line managerial and commercial posts both before and after privatisation. 
From 1997 he was Managing Director of Midland Mainline and Central Trains and then Chief Executive of the National Express Group Bus Division.  He was subsequently Managing Director of Scotrail and Gatwick Express and then Divisional Director for National Express's Northern Trains Division.
He has also completed advanced management training and development at Henley Management Centre and INSEAD. Within Serco Nick oversees the Northern and Merseyrail Joint Venture Companies in addition to Serco Rail Operations and Serco Rail Property. He is a non-executive Director of Serco's Integrated Services Division and holds accountability for Corporate Social Responsibility within Serco Integrated Transport.

 

 

Dominic Booth

Dominic joined NedRailways in January 2007. Dominic has taken up the newly created role of Managing Director for NedRailways UK. In his role as Managing Director Dominic will take a position on the Boards of Merseyrail and Northern Rail, the two companies which NedRailways operates in partnership with Serco. He will also play an important role in the mobilisation and development of new business opportunities.
Dominic has had a fast-track career within the UK rail industry. Involved in the restructuring of some of the early BR Shadow Franchises, to facilitate subsequent privatisation, Dominic was recruited by Connex Transport to head up the operations team in South East and South Central. He was subsequently head hunted by Prism Rail plc as Managing Director of their Wales & West franchise which was later acquired by National Express Group (NEG). 
At NEG Dominic held a number of Managing Director positions, which included a period in charge of London Lines in which he ran all three London commuter TOCs within the NEG portfolio. He was promoted to the position of Deputy Chief Executive of the NEG trains division before finally leaving to join NedRailways.

 

 

Bart Schmeink

Bart Schmeink brings has background in rail passenger and freight operations and also rail infrastructure management in the Netherlands.
Bart started his career at the Dutch Department for Transport, where one of his responsibilities was as an adviser on the European proposals for the liberalisation of national rail networks.
He joined the management team of Railion, the Dutch freight operator, where he was responsible for the delivery of an efficiency programme which reduced costs in the business by without loss of performance or capacity.
This was followed by a move to ProRail, the Dutch equivalent of Network Rail, where he became Managing Director of Infrastructure Management with responsibility for the functional performance of the infrastructure of the Dutch national railway network. His primary role at that time was to achieve higher network performance against lower costs, while improving the infrastructure performance in line with Government requirements.
Bart joins Serco-NedRailways in November 2007 as Managing Director, Merseyrail.

 

 

 Heidi Mottram

Heidi began her career with British Rail as a General Management Trainee. Her first position was that of Station Manager in Harrogate in 1987, she then moved to Regional Railways North East as Route Manager, TransPennine Express, overseeing the introduction of new train services to Manchester Airport and Middlesborough.
Heidi then moved on to Great North Eastern Railways. She was at Great North Eastern Railways from 1993 to 1999 where her roles were that of Route Manager, Distribution Manager, Head of Retailing Standards and Development and finally,Head of Retail and Distribution. As part of the role she was line manager of 15 rail travel outlets with a combined turnover of £180M and 300 staff along with a capital investment programme of £4m in retailing operations.
After Great North Eastern Railways, Heidi moved to Midland Mainline in 1999 as their Operations Director where she was fully accountable for the Operations Team and was part of the team who designed the new class 222 Meridian fleet which is currently being introduced.
Heidi was Commercial Director for Arriva Trains Northern from January 2004 before joining Serco-NedRailways in November 2004 as Managing Director, Northern Rail Ltd.
